Model:850 t5
Year:1995
Engine:2.3
Auto/Manual:man
Mileage (approx):165000 I changed the radiator on the old girl saturday but the large intercooler pipe on the bottom of the rad had a rusty jubilee clip which I could not replace as was late. Took her out after shoving the pipe on as best I could but when I put my foot down the engine did not respnd and had to limp home in low revs. Ecu light came on with a 4 1 4 code (turbo boost prob). Put a new clip on her sunday and engine back to normal performance but the ecu is refusing to accept cancelation code, ive disconnected the battery for an hour but no joy. Any tips? Thanks Gareth. _________________ Bloody Swedes!! |

Disconnect battery, turn on ignition (should discharge any capacitors).
Come back if no joy... _________________

Wondering - you didn't unplug a sensor or knock a plug off during fitting the radiator?
Did the ECU light come on as soon as you started the engine, or only when you booted it? _________________

From a Google search..
For the 414 check all vacuum lines around the turbo. There is 3 to check. _________________

The light only came on when I booted it, as for the sensor you mentioned there was one attached to the rad/intercooler that I didn't disconnect until the thing dropped down. It looked as if it was just attached to the rad on the bottom but with all the usual hassle of keeping the fan and intercooler in place I can't place exactly where it came from.It connects near the battery and has two holes in it and is black. Any ideas? I asked a mechanic I know about a ressetting tool and he showed me what he got for £40, a loop of metal to put into two holes on the ecu and short them, not a volvo one though, he was pissed at what he'd been sent and said if you know which sockets to plug a wire into and short it you could save a lot of money. Lastly he told me about using baby oil on the trim, bumpers and handels etc on a volvo, best back to black ive ever seen. pass it on. Thanks Gareth. _________________ Bloody Swedes!! |

thought i would post this up just in case the same happens to anyone else. To get the light to go out you have to go through the codes twice and then hold down the button with the flylead in a2 socket for 10 seconds, let go and the press for a further 10 when the light comes on again - mine made a whirring noise?? Hope this helps and thanks to the mechanic in frf for the free advice. _________________ Bloody Swedes!! |
